Penarth's Bar 44 has announced their return after an extended closure in relation to the coronavirus pandemic. They closed before the government enforced restrictions due to the safety of their staff and customers.

They said: "After too many days and weeks in lockdown, we are cautiously planning the re-opening of our restaurants. When we re-open, you will see some changes.

"These have all been made with the staff and customers safety in mind. Screens will be in place where appropriate, staff will wear visors and there will be plentiful sanitiser stations."

They hope to reopen their Penarth venue on the 21st of August and bookings will open on the 1st of August.

Opening Hours will be as follows:

Wednesday: 5 pm – 10.30 pm

Thursday: 5 pm – 10.30 pm

Friday: 12 noon – 3 pm, 4 pm – 11 pm

Saturday: 12 noon – 3 pm, 4 pm – 11 pm

Sunday: 12 noon – 5 pm

Bookings will all be done via the website and full details of the booker will need to be given - name, email address and phone number in order to complete your booking. This will be for track and trace purposes. Credit card details will also be necessary to confirm the booking.

They explained: ''We just cannot afford no-show tables when we are operating at 40% capacity. No show tables will have to be charged.

"Tables inside will need to be 10 people maximum. Please note turn times when you book (i.e. length of time you may keep your table)

"These will have to be adhered too so that we have time to deep clean tables before the next customers arrive.

"We have developed a 44 app; this will help reduce contact between customers and staff and mean that contactless payment is possible.

"We suggest that you download the app before you arrive and familiarise yourself with it. This will give you a sneak preview of what we have on offer and will ensure that you can start to enjoy your visit as soon as you arrive. We will let you know as soon as this is ready to view.

"We cannot wait to see you all."

Until then you can still order some Bar 44 favourites on their online shop (which opens on Wednesday) for collection over the weekend. Visit here to find out more.
