Penarth residents and shoppers are being encouraged to vote for their favourite family business as part of a national campaign.
ShopAppy.com has partnered with the Penarth Business Group to get people to make nominations online and highlight what makes a family business particularly special.
The competition began on Mother's Day and will result in one business winning the accolade of the UK's favourite family business.
The winner will be awarded a professional family photography session and an award from ShopAppy.com. Nominated businesses will also be celebrated in the campaign.
Angelina Hall, chair of the Penarth Business Group and co-owner of Glass By Design on Station Approach, said: "We are delighted to be joining this family business campaign as it will give us all a chance to show our appreciation for the many family businesses whom all work so hard to make Penarth a vibrant place to live and shop.
"These businesses make such a positive difference to our area, and I am sure we have several candidates that should be considered for this award."
Dr Jackie Mulligan, the founder of ShopAppy, is leading the quest for the UK's favourite family business. "Family businesses make up over a third of businesses - and our high streets have a strong heritage of family-run shops and services," said Dr Mulligan.
"But the last few years have not been easy for them. When we support local businesses, we are often supporting whole families in our communities at the same time.
"I am sure the nominations will highlight the importance and the positive impact these businesses have on our lives and mostly I hope it encourages people to shop local more as high streets begin to recover from the last two turbulent years."
Nominations must be made by midnight on Father's Day (June 12, 2022).
