The Penarth Summer Festival and Downhill Derby are set to return on Saturday, July 16.

Held at the Esplanade, the festival has been a fixture of the town since the 1960s and will feature live music, refreshments, as well as the popular Downhill Derby race which was first introduced in 2010.

Organised by Penarth Town Council, the festival is free to attend and will take place between 12:00 and 20:00.

Cllr Laura Rochefort, mayor of Penarth, said: "We are so excited to have the Summer Festival and Downhill Derby back for 2022.

"It really is part of this town's identity, and we are proud to be organising it. After the last two years, it feels great to be able to relax and celebrate our wonderful community."

Activities along the seafront will kick off the night before with a special gig by jazz singer, Barb Jungr at the Penarth Pier Pavilion.

The Penarth Summer Festival is a plastic-free event.

More updates will be shared on the Penarth Town Council Facebook page
