It was an early start for the RNLI and Penarth Coastguard volunteer crews this morning following reports of a submerged vehicle near Sofia Garden.

Both boats were tasked shortly after 8:15 am to the River Taff in Cardiff after reports of a submerged, upturned vehicle were spotted near Sofia Gardens.

Crews attended with Penarth Coastguard and South Wales Fire and Rescue.

The lifeboats searched the area and provided cover for those investigating the vehicle in the water, it was later established that the vehicle was unoccupied, and the lifeboats were stood down.
