Demolition work on the Belle Vue Pavilion building and revamp of the play area have started this week.

Plans were approved by Vale of Glamorgan Council's Planning Committee on October 27, 2021, to upgrade the children's play area and develop a new community building with level pedestrian access.

The work is expected to take 37 weeks to complete and the handover of the new Belle Vue Pavilion building is scheduled for March 2023.

Upgrade work to the play area is predicted to finish later this year. New features will include five toddler and junior swings, a wheelchair roundabout and a four-seat seesaw.

Funding for the development has been provided from Section 106 contributions and the council also applied for a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The construction zone has been considered to limit the disruption to park users, and the play area and bowling green will remain open during the scheduled works.

Pedestrian access to the park via Albert Crescent will be closed during the construction period.

Groups such as Friends of Belle Vue Park and the Penarth Bowling Club currently use the Pavilion building. A new kiosk/café will also be introduced as part of the plans.

For the duration, construction workers are restricted to work Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 and Saturdays, 08:00 – 13:00.
