Three Penarth pupils have been presented with iPads after winning the Vale council's election competition.

Lowri Yapp from Westbourne School and Samuel Lonney and Jasmine Eastman from St Cyres Comprehensive School all registered to vote this year and were automatically entered into the competition run by the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Electoral Registration team.

All three pupils were presented with their iPads on Friday, June 17.

The campaign is aimed at encouraging more young people to register to vote. The Vale of Glamorgan currently has one of the highest registered populations at 62.6% of 16–18-year-olds.

Cllr Ruba Sivagnanam, the cabinet member for Community Engagement, Equalities and Regulatory Services, said: "This is a fantastic initiative set up by the Council's Electoral Registration team.

"Now that 16-year-olds can vote in the Senedd elections, it's more important than ever that young people register to have their voice heard; it only takes five minutes, and all you need is your National Insurance number.

"Register today."
