Penarth Next Bike Public Consultation

By The Editor

7th Nov 2019 | Local News

Following the success of the nextbike cycle hire scheme in Cardiff, the Vale council received requests for a similar system.

In response to this, nextbike will now implement the project in Penarth town. The organisation will install 50 electric bikes across several docking stations.

Whilst potential locations have been identified, the council are inviting residents to give their suggestions. Locations must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:

  • Close to popular destinations such as existing transport links, job centres, supermarkets and other shops
• Within a 5-10 minute ride to other stations
  • Have a high footfall
• Highly visible and easy to find

• Have enough space to allow safe movement of pedestrians and people with limited mobility

• Accessible by van or bike trailer to allow our service team to maintain the bikes and stations

• Monitored by CCTV

Final decisions will be made based on the above criteria, as well as the ability to source power to the locations, which will be determined by power providers.
