Penarth Masonic Hall is holding a major event to commemorate the Royal British Legion's centenary this year raise funds.

The Poppy Appeal will be held from 28th October to 15th November.

During this time, Penarth Masonic Hall will be lit in red lighting and open to the Public at designated times to display our spectacular gold 'Remembrance Poppy Penny' in the Grand Temple. This will be displayed in close proximity to the Bronze Commemorative Plaques to our Brethren lost in both World Wars.

It will be in front of the imposing Worshipful Master's Chair that is a "Peace memorial" created in 1920, where a poppy wreath will also be displayed. We are inviting all lodges and the public to attend:

  • Sunday 31st October 2pm-5pm Open to the Public
  • Tuesday 2nd November 6:30pm start Talk on Fallen Penarth Freemasons by Nigel Williams
  • Sunday 7th November 2pm -5pm Open to the Public
  • Sunday 14th November 10am to 2pm Penarth Freemasons join the Penarth Civic Parade, lay a Wreath, then a buffet and Tour of Penarth Masonic Hall

All the above events will be free.

Penarth Masonic Hall will also welcome donations be for the Royal British Legion in their Centenary year.

"We have produced a special commemorative booklet on the fallen Penarth Freemasons – "We Will Remember Them". These will be available at all events and we ask for a donation," read a social media post.

"Special Centenary Poppies will be on sale at Penarth Masonic Hall.

"We are inviting all Penarth lodges to attend and represent us at the Penarth Civic Remembrance Service on Sunday 14th November, forming up at the Hall to join the main parade service and lay our Wreath.

"The Directors of Penarth Masonic Hall then invite brethren back to the Hall for a buffet and a Tour of the Hall. Brethren should be encouraged to wear service medals.

"We also invite all South Wales lodges and brethren to make a donation to their local Royal British Legion Association or to send a donation through Penarth Masonic Hall."
