Penarth man arrested in botched robbery attempt

Yesterday, the police appealed to any witnesses that may have witnessed the attempted robbery of a 72 year old woman in Bute Town. An official update has confirmed that they have arrested a Penarth man over the incident.

The attempted robbery took place in the lane between West Bute St and Bute Street at approximately 9.30am. The offender tried to steal a woman's handbag.

He ran off empty-handed and South Wales police were able to arrest a man arrested within 2 hours of the incident. He will appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court today charged with attempt robbery of a 72-year-old woman and possession of a knife.
