Penarth's volunteer lifeboat crew were paged last night to a 30ft motor vessel that had broken down off the English coast, having left Cardiff.

Penarth RNLI received the alert just before 6pm yesterday.

The boat was recovered by Portishead lifeboat, who towed it to the mid-Channel. Penarth lifeboat then towed the vessel into Cardiff Bay.

"Many thanks to our colleagues Portishead RNLI Lifeboat Station and HM Coastguard - South and West Wales for their assistance," said a spokesperson for Penarth RNLI.
