Hamptons in Penarth Town Centre and coastal themed Shore on the Esplanade are introducing a free gift home delivery service within Penarth for customers who are currently staying at home.

Peter Knowles of Hamptons and Shore said "Both of our shops in Penarth are currently open and we're taking precautions to keep our staff and the public safe.

''However, we recognise that many of our customers are already staying at home or planning on doing so and therefore cannot shop for cards and gifts for friends and family. To help people remain safe we are introducing a gift home delivery service."

Customers can phone either of the shops, talk to the staff about the sort of gift they are thinking of and have a selection of items e-mailed to them to choose from.

Once they have made their choice, payment can be made over the phone and the item will be gift wrapped and delivered either to them or the person who the gift is for. Gifts can also be sent by post if the person who it's for lives outside the town.

"In Penarth, we are very fortunate that so many people choose to support their local independent retailers rather than shopping online," said Peter. "We hope this new service will help people to continue shopping locally for their gifts and other items."

Independent shops and businesses will need all the support we can give them to survive and to keep the town we love from becoming a ghost town.

Many Penarth independents are adapting their services to help people who are staying at home. Let's all support them and help to ensure they are still here for us when the current crisis is finally over.

Hamptons can be contacted on 029 2070 5391 and Shore on 029 2132 1818. Shore also has an online shop - and a selection of products can be viewed here.
