Households across Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan are showing their support for NHS heroes

during the COVID-19 crisis by displaying heart-shaped window stickers in their homes and cars.

The stickers are being designed and made by Dianne Augustine, who works as a Health Care Support Worker at Llandough Hospital (UHL).

Dianne is currently shielding at home for 12 weeks as she is in a vulnerable category, but has thrown herself into supporting her colleagues from home.

As well as coordinating donations and deliveries of PPE for frontline staff at the hospital and raising funds to supply food and drinks to UHL Staff Haven, supported by a band of local volunteers, Dianne is sending out window stickers in return for donations to a fund that will be used for Llandough Hospital staff.

Dianne said, "I wanted to do something practical to help my amazing colleagues at this very difficult time.

''There is so much support for them in the local community and by displaying window stickers,

people can go one step further in showing their appreciation.

''It may seem like a small gesture, but it means such a lot to our wonderful NHS heroes to see the stickers in their street or on their way to work and know that everyone is behind them. It's heartwarming to see the level of support that's out there for our frontline workers."

When the crisis is over, the money raised will be donated to Llandough Hospital staff to use in

whatever way they think is best.

Dianne is covering the cost of the materials for the window stickers herself, with other local people donating envelopes and card to help with sending them out.

Donors only need to cover the cost of a second class stamp if they want the stickers posted out to them, or they can be collected from Dianne's doorstep in Penarth.

There is a minimum donation of £2.50 including second class postage, with 100% of the remainder going into the fund.

To find out how to get their own window stickers and make a donation, people simply need to visit

the Facebook page.
