A Penarth gymnastics team will be fundraising at Specsavers on Windsor Road tomorrow (April 30) to compete in the Dance World Cup in Spain.

Planet Acro Team will be at Specsavers Penarth from 11:00 until 13:00 raising money for the trip to San Sebastian in Spain to represent Wales at the annual competition.

The group of 12 performers, which includes members from eight to 16 years old, have planned a three-minute routine to perform at the competition which incorporates gymnastics with dance.

Gina Goddard, a volunteer coach for eight years with the team, said: "We really need help from the people of Penarth to raise as much money as possible to get to Spain.

"This is the first time some of them have qualified in the group of 12. A few of them have been already before Covid. I went around all the shops in Penarth with letters and Specsavers kindly got back to us and said they would help."

Specsavers Penarth has also promised to double the amount fundraised through the cake sale and lucky dip.

Businesses can sponsor the Planet Acro Team. For £250, the business will get its logo printed on the team's kit.

If you are interested in sponsorship, you can contact Gina Goddard at [email protected]
