HUNDREDS of people are expected to turn up at a town centre family fun day this weekend celebrating nature and the autumn season.

Apple Day Penarth 2026 in Belle Vue Park on Saturday afternoon (October 10) will feature a wide range of nature themed activities for people of all ages.

Organiser Elen Robert said: "It's going to be a fantastic day for all the family. We'll have craft stalls and autumn themed games for the children, as well as a food demonstration and an introduction to willow weaving."

Organisers are also offering apple juicing to anyone who brings their own apples. Fresh squeezed apple juice samples will be available for everyone who turns up!

"Visitors will get a chance to make and taste real fresh apple juice made with traditional presses. It's completely different to the stuff we are used to from the supermarket!" said Elen.

Tea, coffee and home-baked cakes and biscuits will be available. Children will get a chance to learn a Welsh song about apples.

A raffle will offer prizes from local businesses including Griff's Deli, Griffin Books, Windsor Fruit and Veg and Bar 44.

There will be a chance to learn about the trees of Belle Vue on a tour by Penarth Tree Forum at 3.30pm.

Visitors will also be able to find out more about the work of the Penarth Tree Forum, which helps to plant and care for trees across the town.

The event, which runs from 2pm until 5pm, has been organised by a number of voluntary conservation groups from the town.

The organising groups are: Gwyrddio Penarth Greening, Penarth Growing Community, Penarth Civic Society, Friends of the Kymin, Friends of St Joseph's Park, Perllan Penarth, Friends of Belle Vue and Penarth Tree Forum.

The event is sponsored by Food Vale and supported by Penarth Town Council.

The organisers are also appealing to residents who have apples to donate but need help harvesting them. A team of volunteers may be able to assist, with details available through Penarth Growing Community.
