Penarth Cricket Club is looking for volunteers to help with the All Stars and Dynamos kids' teams starting next month.

From May 13, volunteers will need to help oversee the All Stars and Dynamos as they play cricket every Friday evening at 18:00.

All Stars is aimed at children aged five to eight and Dynamos is a team for All Stars graduates aged between eight and 11 years old.

Mark Frost, 59, chair of Penarth Cricket Club, told Penarth Nub News: "We've had an overwhelming avalanche of demand from young kids to play, so we need extra help to make this happen.

"If we can find another ten volunteers to oversee the Friday night session, that would be great," said Mark. "We're pretty much at capacity in terms of kids joining. But if a parent wants to volunteer and their child is also interested in playing, then that's something we would consider."

Men's and women's teams at Penarth Cricket Club will be receiving a new kit this weekend and Mark is also keen to push women's cricket. "We have a softball women's team and we're very much looking for more interest there," he said. "No experience or skill is needed, and the team come together on a Friday evening.

"We have about 200-300 people at the club on a Friday night so it's always a great atmosphere."

A DBS check will be covered by Penarth Cricket Club.

If you would like to volunteer, email Mark Frost at [email protected]
