All Penarth residents are invited to a Jubilee and Pentecost picnic at All Saints Church in Victoria Square on Sunday, June 5.

All churches in the Penarth Ministry Area have come together to organise a community event where everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Janet Akers, 75, the churchwarden for the Penarth area, told Penarth Nub News: "Where I live in Penarth, it's quite a busy bus route and although we have a fantastic neighbourly community, it's not possible to do a street party.

"So, I thought let's have a party on the grounds of the church where everybody in the community can come to it. We want the community to come together and have fun in an informal way."

James Sommerin, the owner of the Michelin star restaurant Home on Stanwell Road, will be present with a food stall for people who prefer to not bring their own picnic.

There will be a bouncy castle and members of the church's youth group will be setting up a face painting station.

Guests will also be welcome to take part in a Jubilee-themed fancy dress competition.

Tea and coffee will be provided for free as well as a paying bar for other drinks.

The picnic will start at 11:30 with a 14:30 finishing time. All Saints Church will be open for people to sit inside and use the toilets.

Organisers are asking guests to bring picnic blankets or chairs to set up on the grounds.
