The Penarth Coastguard Rescue Team had a late call-out last night as they were tasked to assist the police with a missing person's report.

The situation was resolved safely the team were stood down shortly afterwards.

They said: ''This was our first call out since social distancing so it was a little different to our normal call-outs and did feel strange but we all embraced how we do things as a team at this current time to keep us all safe.

''Help the NHS stay home and stay safe.

''We remain on-call 24/7 to assist the public and our colleagues in the emergency services.''

Emergency services like the coastguard will remain active throughout the duration of the coronavirus but the teams have reminded people to be cautious near coastal areas and respect the rules of social distancing and the lockdown.
