Penarth Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist South Wales Police yesterday evening in the search for a missing person around the Penarth Pier area.

A police helicopter was seen flying around the area at the same time; they are often used when searching coastal areas for missing people.

The Coastguard said: ''We were tasked to assist South Wales Police to search for a missing person thought to have been at the Pier. The casualty was located by police safe and well.''

The team spent the rest of their weekend aiding police across Cardiff and the Vale in ensuring that local residents were abiding by the rules of lockdown.
