Penarth's volunteer Coastguard officers assisted in the rescue of a swimmer lost in the fog.

The team were paged to support Barry Coastguard around 10am yesterday, responding to shouts of help from person in the water near Friars Point.

The team on scene, alongside Barry RNLI, located the swimmer who had become disorientated in the morning's fog, and helped them to safety.

"Please take extra care when visibility or other conditions are poor," said a spokesperson for Penarth Coastguard.
