Penarth Civic Society: One Becomes Four as Old Poplar Tree Replaced by Vale Council

The Vale Council have responded quickly to requests from residents and the Penarth Civic Society to replace a tree on the land beside the railway path between Sully Terrace and Archer Terrace.

This piece of land is important because it is a 'front garden' for the residents of the two terraces and also is enjoyed by the many people who use the railway path.

Residents were concerned when a large poplar had to be cut down and worked with the Civic Society to put a request into the council to get some replacements planted.

Neil Williams and John Greatrex from the Vale Council consulted with the residents and have bought and planted four specimen trees to replace the poplar.

Local resident Penny Daw said: "As spring arrives, it's great to see our local community appreciating the newly planted trees on the green and sitting in the sunshine on the stump of the old white poplar.

''The trees are just coming into leaf so will need regular watering by local residents and are raising the spirits of all who see them at this difficult time.''
