With winds in Penarth reaching 80 mph, the town council has been forced to close the cemetery early for public safety.

They apologise for any inconvenience, but with reports of trees falling down in the area they were left with no choice.

Tempestuous weather conditions due to continue through the night and tomorrow.

The council and various regional bodies have urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly when driving.
