TODAY'S PENARTH AREA EVENTS:

Swing dancing at Penarth Pavilion:

A night of swing dance by the sea hosted by Lindy Hop Cardiff. The night kicks off with a fun taster class in swing dance with Anna Rogers, followed by classic swing DJing and live music from The Echoes of Harlem. The Echoes of Harlem will transport you back in time with their soundtrack of yesteryear. Composed from some of Cardiff's leading jazz musicians and swinging cats, featuring the stunning vocals of Sarah Meek and the sultry tones of saxophonist Joe Northwood. Channelling the sounds of Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and many more of the greats, you won't be able to keep to toes from a-tappin'. This is primarily a social dance event so be prepared to be on your feet and hitting the dance floor. Tickets are booked through the Penarth Pier Pavilion box office - Dance Class & Social Dancing £15- from 7 pm. Just Social Dancing £10 - from 8:30 pm.

Penarth Cytun and Council of Churches - Lent Lunches:

Why not pop in for a bowl of soup, a cuppa and a natter? Pop in during your lunch break for tasty food, great company and raising money for Christian Aid Cymru. 12:00 pm.

The Bluesters at the Albion:

Ok, there'll be us: The Bluesters. We'll be playing music on our instruments. There'll (hopefully) be other people there too; that's where you come in. As a member of the audience you'll be required to drink drinks and chat with other people and maybe even listen to music, should you feel inclined. The music will be mostly earth-based.

Drop-In musical signing sessions for babies and tots!

Every other Friday. 10.00 am. Drop-in

TODAY'S SHOWINGS AT PENARTH'S SNOWCAT CINEMA:

Pather Panchali:

One of our favourite films opens the Native Tongues line-up - Pather Panchali is the first film in Satyajit Ray's wonderful Apu Trilogy. Soundtracked by master sitar player Ravi Shankar, and featuring naturalistic performances from the mainly non-professional cast, it's a gem of world cinema.

Please note: there's no need to print your tickets. We have a list of attendees on the door so you just need to give us your name when you arrive. Save the trees!
