The Under 16s Penarth Allstars netball team won a national championship title on May 29 which was held at the Cardiff City House of Sport.

The NAT National Championships tournament was organised by Wales Netball, the nation's governing body of the sport, and 14 teams in total from across the country qualified to compete.

Gary Fish, a coach at the netball team, told Penarth Nub News: "The team [Penarth Allstars] managed to play undefeated throughout the tournament.

"We've been through COVID-19, we've been through lockdown, we've also had to train in car parks and grass verges since the pandemic hit.

"It's been an incredible amount of work and a lot of dedication from the girls to win this title. We played the Gilfach netball team in the final and it was a hard but thoroughly enjoyable game on both sides. A big thanks to Gilfach for an outstanding game."

Lisa Birchall, head coach at Penarth Allstars, added: "What an incredible bunch of athletes they are to work with!

"They've all worked so hard for this with the time they've given on top of exams and everything else they do."
