Vale of Glamorgan Enforcement Officers have said that they have issued "a number of" Penalty Charge Notices on the Esplanade today.

According to a Vale Council Twitter post, vehicles have been parked on double yellow lines, contravening the new Esplanade parking regime which effectively arrived in early March.

"Officers are currently patrolling The Esplanade area of Penarth and have had to issue Penalty Charge Notices to a number of vehicles parked on double yellow lines," they wrote two hours ago.

"Please remember that such restrictions still apply on Bank Holidays."

Nub News spotted a large number of vehicles parked in unauthorised zones opposite Windsor Court over the Bank Holiday weekend.

At 3:30pm, we counted four cars parked on yellow lines on Beach Road.

Residents have complained that parking restrictions on the Esplanade have been inadequately enforced.

"In the past, the parking has not been properly monitored," Shore owner Peter Knowles told Nub News.

"I'm in favour of the alterations, but there has to be effective management of the spaces."
