News in brief: Windsor Road roundabout pedestrian crossing malfunctions in the heat

By Alex Jones

20th Jul 2021 | Local News

The pedestrian crossing and traffic light system at the Windsor Road roundabout is malfunctioning.

The traffic light turns red every 14 seconds without anyone pushing the button.

This mean the green man and bicycle turn green for just five seconds - considerably less than the allocated time to allow pedestrians to cross.

The green traffic light then turns on again for 31 seconds before turning back to red.

The malfunction is causing confusion among pedestrians and drivers. Some we spoke to speculated that is is caused by the extreme heat - 28 degrees at noon.

The issue is ongoing at the time of writing (12:15). We have reported it to the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Nearby traffic lights appear to be functioning normally.
