A Kip McGrath tutoring centre, which applied for planning permission at 4 Herbert Terrace in Penarth, has been approved.

The learning centre will sit opposite Tesco Express in the town centre.

The centre would be open from 3-7pm after school every afternoon and from 9-1pm on a Saturday morning.

The business will have two tuition zones catering for 5 pupils at a time.

The planning statement said: ''It is envisaged that an additional tutor zone with be created in year 3 for another 5 pupils.''

They will provide individualised learning programmes for primary and secondary students to target their specific needs.

They will cater for students who want to come into the centre and be taught face-to-face, and for those who want to remain at home and be taught by one of our online tutors.

Despite objections from Penarth Town council on the basis of lack of parking and access issues, the centre has permission to go ahead.

The Highway Authority acknowledge the issues but still recommended that the centre should be allowed to go ahead.

The applicant responded to the highway concerns stating that there would be 2 parking spaces available behind the building for tutors to use but that they would also be trying to hire locally to reduce the necessity of staff driving to work.
