Councillor Jon Cowpe was unanimously elected chair of Dinas Powys Community Council for the forthcoming 12 months.

He is a retired professor and consultant oral surgeon.

His research and publications were into the diagnosis of oral cancer. He managed post graduate training for dental professionals.

He has been a member of Gwyl Gerdd Dinas Powys Music Festival for 16 years.

A volunteer at Dinas Powys Library & Activity Centre. He is an active member of St Mary's where he plays the oboe and cor anglais. Jon has helped raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Debbie Evans was elected as Vice Chair. Her record of fighting to upgrade Seel Park and obtaining grants for community projects are well known.

The common's benches were upgraded thanks to her leadership.

Debbie is also known for volunteering to paint community council fences. Councillor Chris Franks proposed Debbie and said that she is a hard working councillor.
