Milkshed Workspace Penarth marks a milestone as tenant House 7 Studios scales up

Local News by John Davies 11th Feb 2026

Milkshed Workspace in Penarth is celebrating a proud milestone: one of its longest-standing tenants is moving on because they've outgrown the space.

House 7 Studios, a film and content production company with roots in award-winning documentary filmmaking and journalism, has been based at Milkshed for several years. This spring, they will take the next step in their journey, moving into larger premises to accommodate a growing team and expanding portfolio.

For Milkshed's founders, John Summers-Davies and Will Summers-Davies, it is a positive outcome. "House 7 Studios was one of our earliest studio tenants, and seeing them grow to the point where they need more space is a real point of pride for us," said Will. "Milkshed was created to support businesses at key stages of their journey. When a company moves on because they've outgrown us, that tells us we're doing something right."

House 7 Studios is an award-winning video production studio, and has built its reputation by blending the discipline of documentary storytelling with the speed and demands of digital platforms. With experience spanning traditional broadcast, streaming and social-first content, the company has evolved alongside changing audience habits. That evolution has been mirrored in their physical workspace needs. What began as a small team working from home, then to a private studio at Milkshed, has now grown into a larger operation requiring more desk space, production flexibility and room to scale.

"Milkshed has been a brilliant base for us at a really important stage of our journey. It gave us the space, flexibility and stability to focus on building the business and growing our team. Moving on now feels like a positive next step, and we're proud to have started that journey at Milkshed. We're pleased that House 7 will be staying in Penarth, keeping creative work, skills and jobs in the Vale of Glamorgan." said Nick Hartley, Founder and Head of Content Strategy at House 7 Studios.

Milkshed Workspace itself was made possible with support from the Vale of Glamorgan Council's Start-Up Bursary and later the Shared Prosperity Fund provided by the UK Government, helping transform the building into a multi-use hub for freelancers, creatives and small businesses.

Bronwen Brooks, Deputy Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Places, added: "This is exactly what we want our local workspaces to achieve. Milkshed has helped House 7 Studios grow from an early stage business into one that now needs bigger premises, and that's a real success story. The fact they're staying in Penarth means skills, jobs and creative talent remain in the Vale, showing how the right support at the right time can make a lasting difference."

For John and Will, House 7's growth is a tangible example of how that investment has delivered long-term value. "The support received isn't just about creating desk spaces or refurbishing a building," said John. "It's about backing local people, local ideas and local businesses. House 7's success shows how supporting a fellow small business can lead to sustainable growth and job creation in the local economy."

Since opening, Milkshed has supported a wide range of independent businesses, many of whom have gone on to take on staff, expand services or move into larger premises locally.

Milkshed's model has always focused on flexibility: a great location, private studios, high-speed broadband and all-inclusive pricing, allowing businesses to focus on growth rather than overheads.

John added. "Our role is to provide a stable, supportive base at the right moment. If we can help companies take their next step, whether that's growing a team or moving into a bigger space, that's success for us."

As House 7 Studios prepares for its next chapter, Milkshed is already marketing the studio they leave behind, ready to support the next business at the start of its journey. For both organisations, it is a reminder that strong local communities are built not just on buildings, but on successful long-term relationships, shared ambition and the confidence to invest in potential.
