A new Lower Penarth Community Centre Committee has assembled after an urgent appeal for members was made last year.

The group have already overseen extensive and ongoing refurbishments of the building, launched a booking website, and reopened to activities and clubs amid the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Much of the renovation work has already been carried out, including repainting the "outdated" orange and yellow walls.

The new committee, the Lower Penarth Community Association (LPCA), hope to also acquire funding from the Vale of Glamorgan to replace the floor and blinds.

In order to "bring the hall into the 21st century" the group plan to install an impressive sound and audio system for the purpose of movie nights, theatre groups and community talks.

"The updates we are doing will hopefully make it a far more attractive space for people to come and use," said the newly selected Chair Eleanor Long.

"It's here for community use. Come along and use it."

In accordance with social distancing guidelines, maximum capacity currently stands at 25.

However, due to its catering facilities, size and access to outdoor space, the Community Centre is on the brink of becoming a vibrant and multipurpose community hub once again.
