Noglü, an online shop selling only gluten free food, now offers free delivery to Penarth, the town from which it operates.

Business partners John Davies and Ester Borin Bonilo, who are both gluten intolerant, originally founded Noglü as a stall in Cardiff Market.

Only during the pandemic did it go online and begin its delivery service.

"So we used to run a catering company," John tells Nub News. "But then last year we heard a stall was going in Cardiff Market, so we took the plunge.

"It was going really well. A bit slow in January and February, but I'm told this is pretty standard in retail. And then… well, you know what happened next."

After taking a few months to regroup, Noglü took another plunge and went online.

"In June, when things started to return to normal a little bit, we just jumped right in, started up a website and began delivering. It's been going really well."

Initially, John and Ester would personally deliver their produce locally to customers in Penarth, Barry and Dinas Powys.

"But about a month ago we've started to deliver nationally via courier."

Delivery costs £3, but this has just been dropped for Penarth. Nub News asks why.

"Well, even though we're from Penarth we're not quite as popular here as you might expect. We have a few customers, but seeing as about 10% of people in the UK don't eat gluten, we should have a few thousand!

"We can definitely justify it as it's easy to deliver to Penarth. We just want more people in our town to try our products."

Noglü offers a diverse range of gluten free items, from artisan loaves (which are also vegan) and naan breads to Welsh cakes and scones.

"We offer everything a supermarket does and more, but hopefully a lot nicer.

"Almost always, a first-time customer becomes a regular, which I suppose is a good sign."
