Glass by Design, a Penarth based business, was given the task of creating a commemorative plaque for the 60th anniversary of the local Marie Curie Hospice.

Angelina Hall and Cathy O'Doherty are both experts in Glass Design and were approached by the Hospice for the project.

The brief was to create something that encompassed the coastal location of the hospice whilst marking the special occasion of the 60th anniversary and The Prince of Wales' visit.

It is set to be hung in the entrance foyer of the hospice for visitors, staff and patients to admire.

Angelina Hall said: ''As a local business, we were very proud to be asked.''

The final product depicts a wave of gorgeous blues and inscribed, both in Welsh and English, it reads: ''To Celebrate our 60th year Marie Curie Hospice Cardiff and the Vale welcomed HRH The Prince of Wales on 21st of February 2020.''

Cathy O'Doherty said: ''We were really honoured that they asked us as a local business to do it.

''We have done pieces for the hospice before and we were thrilled that they approached us for this special occasion. It was an honour to make the piece and we feel really lucky to have been involved.

''We didn't get to actually speak to Prince Charles, but we saw the unveiling of the plaque and the whole thing was rather exciting.

''He spent most of his visit with the staff and patients of the hospice, visiting the wards which was lovely.''
