Cllr Lis Burnett, Leader of Vale of Glamorgan Council, paid a visit to the Marie Curie charity shop on Windsor Road, Penarth, as part of its Great Daffodil Appeal.
The appeal is an annual fundraising campaign by the charity to help to ensure that everyone gets the expert care and support they deserve during end-of-life care.
Cllr Burnett popped into the unique charity shop to find out more about the work that Marie Curie does across South Wales and in the Cardiff and Vale Hospice in Penarth, including the ways in which people can support Marie Curie.
Shoppers who purchase an 'essential item' will be given a thank you card that they can keep or pass on to a loved one as a gift. Every purchase will go towards a similar item needed by the Cardiff and Vale Marie Curie Hospice - which is only half a mile away from the shop - to help provide expert care and support to local people.
Cllr Burnett said: "The work Marie Curie do is needed now more than ever. That is why I am encouraging people across the whole of South Wales to show their support for this unique charity shop in any way that they can.
"Every donation means that when the time comes Marie Curie can be there for people and their loved ones when they need it most."
Tomos Evans, Marie Curie Policy and Public Affairs Manager, said: "Thank you to Cllr Lis Burnett for taking the time to visit our 'Gift that Matters' pop-up shop.
"We wanted to create a space that brings to life the meaningful and emotive items that tell the story of how Marie Curie care for and support people at the most challenging times in their lives.
"This is a shop like no other where you can buy essential items to help support terminally ill people and their families and carers. From you, or in the name of a loved one, everything you buy goes straight to those who need it most."
Marie Curie is the UK's leading end of life charity who provide expert end of life care for people with any form of terminal illness and support their family and friends in both hospices and at home.
Visitors to the shop can also speak to Marie Curie staff or volunteers to find out more about Marie Curie services or how to support the charity including the Marie Curie Information and Support Line, Bereavement Support, Fundraising, Volunteering, Corporate Partnerships, and Gifts in Wills.
If you're living with a terminal illness or have been affected by dying, death, and bereavement, Marie Curie can help. Visit www.mariecurie.org.uk or call the free support line on 0800 090 2309.
