Kymin community volunteers and seafront swimmers come together for a party!
Community groups in Penarth are coming together to hold a Christmas party at the Penarth Pier Pavilion to raise money for the community projects in Penarth's Kymin park and the seafront swimmers.
The party will be held in the Penarth Pier Pavilion on the evening of Wednesday,14 December and include food and dancing to live music from the Penarth party band Elgin Avenue.
The idea for a party came about when Penarth musician, and former teacher from Evenlode school, Steve Chapman walked through the Kymin gardens one Saturday morning this Autumn during a community work group event to help develop the Kymin grounds. Steve expressed support for the community action under way at the Kymin and suggested that his band, Elgin Avenue would offer a fund raising party night to celebrate the Kymin. It was agreed.
Penarth's daily early morning swimmers, the Dawn Stalkers, said they'd join the idea and are now declaring it their Christmas party.
The Dawn Stalkers featured in The Guardian newspaper this week for their successful campaign to get the sea water tested in Penarth - and the tests show that Penarth's water quality is very good. Celebrations all round.
Anyone who supports the community development of the Kymin and the community groups in the Kymin park and around the seafront is welcome to come to the party at the Pier on the 14th December. All welcome. There'll be members from Kymin Growing Community, Penarth GPG, Friends of The Kymin, Benthyg and the Dawn Stalkers.
There'll be a bar, food and live music. Tickets are £14 with £8 concessions and available on Eventbrite.
