Substantial work is underway at the Parish and Lee halls to keep the buildings fit for the community.

The halls are managed by Dinas Powys Community Council on behalf of the residents of Dinas Powys.

The Parish Hall was built in 1907. The floor required remedial action in one small section due to subsidence. The whole floor has been sanded and varnished. Also an external drive has been surfaced to avoid debris being wheeled in when heavy staging is being erected. New stage curtains are required with the current curtains starting to deteriorate. Various re-painting options are being examined.

The Old Library to the rear is used by theatre and musical groups as changing room for shows. Again the room needs to be brought up to standard.

The Lee Hall curtains also require replacing.

Cllr John Fanshaw, chair of the Halls Committee, said: "The community council is seeking financial support for some of this work. The halls are a wonderful asset to the community and must be maintained properly."
