Hera the police dog catches alleged burglars outside Penarth Tesco
Two alleged burglars were apprehended by police officers and police dog (PD) Hera in the early hours of this morning.
Police say they were called to Tesco in Penarth Marina at roughly 2am to reports of a burglary.
Thanks to PD Hera's "nose skills", the two men - aged 36 and 34 and from Grangetown - were tracked down and arrested.
Police say the alleged crooks were carrying "all their tools" and that one of the individuals is wanted for 11 other burglaries in the area.
Nub News spoke with the manager of Tesco, who told us that cameras had picked up the men "lurking" in the area and that no attempted burglary had been made on the supermarket. No criminal damage was inflicted.
Local Policing Inspector for CardiffBay and Penarth, Stuart McDean, said: "Being a victim of burglary, whether it's your home, your business, or where you work is a traumatic experience.
"Therefore, preventing and detecting burglaries is a priority for South Wales Police
"While these arrests are significant, as always we ask business to make it clear that no cash is left on the premises overnight and if anyone is seen acting suspiciously please call police immediately."
