Helping Hands, a Penarth-based voluntary group, has made an appeal for donations to care homes.

They are asking for residents to donate toiletries, refreshments and snacks - items specifically requested by local care homes.

"We have a group of volunteers calling local care and nursing homes to thank them and see if they are in need of anything," founder Kathryn Easthope posted on Facebook.

"Other than being immensely grateful, they have requested the following:

-* unopened * toiletries (including body wash, deodorant, shampoo, razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste)

- refreshments & snacks

- Ty Gwyn are arranging a pamper day for their residents to lift spirits. Feel free to donate anything that you think would be appropriate, e.g. nail polish, makeup ect!

"Anyone who is able to donate can do so to the following places:

âï¸ Lauren: 33 Cawnpore Street, CF64 2JU

âï¸Kathryn: 7 Rhodfa'r Morwydd, CF64 2UD"

Helping Hands was started by Kathryn and Anthony Easthope during lockdown to "help the vulnerable, support the community and provide aid for frontline workers."

They strive to unite the community "against the challenges of COVID-19" and are in the process of becoming a registered charity.

Much of their work is funded by the selling of facemasks, which are produced by a devoted team of "sewing bees". They cost £4 for adults and £2 for children and can be purchased through thisFacebook page[.L].
