Helping Hands Penarth continues its community support

Community organisation Helping Hands Penarth has donated £200 each to two local groups.

Throughout lockdown, volunteers have organised book collection boxes for children, delivered necessities to care homes, battled loneliness and even organised PPE for frontline workers.

Much of these efforts have been funded through the sale of homemade masks, cards and raffles.

Founder Kathryn Easthope explained how they decided to donate to KeyCreate, who provide children's play workshops and Crossroads, who support carers in the Vale.

"We had the money to give away, and we wanted it to stay in Penarth and help the community," explained Kathryn.

"So, we asked our volunteers to nominate a local group or charity that could use the money, and these two were the most-suggested.

"Not only can they put the money to good use, but hopefully it can raise the profile of the awesome work they do too!"
