Penarth Town Council Facilities and Open Spaces Development Officer, Mark Hooper, has created a remembrance display in the West House Community Garden to commemorate the lives lost in past conflicts.

The display features the silhouette of the Unknown Tommy and a handmade Spitfire adorned with poppies.

The structure was made using leftover materials from community garden projects and now takes pride of place on the front lawn.

A Penarth Town Council spokesperson commented: "The West House Community Garden has been a popular space for residents throughout 2020 with many coming for socially distanced meetups or quiet reflection amongst the blooms.

"Mark, who designed the garden is pleased that people are making use of the space and hopes that his remembrance display will encourage others to be creative and pay their respects however they can this year."
