Gareth had camera in hand to capture memorable scenes in the night skies

THE night sky spectacle over Friday and Saturday as a solar storm battered the earth was captured on camera by Penarth resident Gareth Rees.
Along with much of the UK, South Wales has witnessed the Northern Lights for a second consecutive day amid "breathtaking" levels of solar wind reaching Earth.
The stunning display of lights on Friday was caught on camera by Gareth of Whitcliffe Drive.
He took the photographs along the coastal path between Penarth and lavernock near the top of Upper Cosmeston Farm looking northward toward Penarth town and Cardiff.
