Details of the Vale of Glamorgan Council's plan to demolish the existing Belle Vue Pavilion and construct a larger replacement for £1.2 million have been published on the organisation's planning website.
Flick through our gallery above to see them.
In the application, the Vale of Glamorgan Council say:
"The vision for this project is to create a venue that is safe, inclusive and an attractive community space, where local residents and groups can meet, socialise and enjoy a range of activities."
They assure the building will "promote further usage of the park", be "fully accessible", respect "the character of the conservation area", and be "more energy efficient.
Penarth Town Council were consulted and provided no objection.
Some residents, however, oppose the proposal.
In an opinion piece written for Nub News, Albert Crescent resident Ken Gray voice opposition to the building's size, design and costiliness.
"The beautiful period building is to replaced by what looks like a brand new GP surgery," said another resident, Sue Jones.
"Functional, economical and does the job. I was imagining this building design as a replacement for the Italian Gardens Shelter. Or the Pier Pavillion!"
