A series of lectures presented by academics on Penarth's future will be back with its second instalment on March 8.

This will be the second out of three lectures in the series aimed at promoting community discussion and engagement.

There will be final research presentations by postgraduate students from Cardiff University School of Geography and Planning in April.

Hugh Mackay, a retired academic and Penarth resident, will be the second lecture's speaker and plans to address issues relating to new transport policies and the effects they will have on Penarth.

The first lecture, hosted on February 1, was presented by Dr Allison Dutoit, also a resident of Penarth, as well as a senior lecturer at University of West of England and an Urban Expert with Gehl Copenhagen.

Dr Dutoit's talk, titled 'Rethinking Our Places - Questions and Challenges', discussed how successful change in cities and towns starts with thinking about people and how they behave in public spaces.

She also spoke about the possibility to trial changes and evaluate their effects on the whole community before making a long-term commitment.

The lecture is once again being held at Stanwell Road Baptist Church on March 8 between 19:00 and 20:30.
