Ego at the Schooner Inn has been forced to cancel for the evening after unexpected rains.

The Lavernock Road restaurant reopened on 26 April in accordance with the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

However, they and other restaurants are at the mercy of the weather until 17 May, when indoor hospitality is allowed to reopen.

"Unfortunately due to the unexpected bad weather, we have made the decision to close for this evening," they wrote on social media at roughly 3pm.

"All bookings booked with us this evening will be contacted by a manager.

"Further updates will following about the next couple of days fingers crossed for better weather."

This is now the second day in a row Ego have been forced to cancel bookings due to the weather.

Yesterday, they were able to cancel earlier than today, writing in the morning:

"Unfortunately, with the 'outside dining' limitations we are somewhat in the hands of the weather Gods and it's not looking too promising."

Nub News is pleased to report that the newly installed parklet on Station Approach is occupied by Gin64 customers, sheltered from the rain.
