Hannah Mills has boosted her chances of defending her Olympic sailing title.

The Dinas Powys sailor, who is the reigning women's 470 champion, won the fourth race with teammate Eilidh McIntyre, on day two of the competition at Enoshima, near Tokyo.

The Team GB duo are currently in second overall, behind Polish pair Agnieska Skrzypulec and Jolanta Ogar.

Mills and McIntyre could only manage seventh place in the opening race of the day, but they responded with a maiden victory in Japan, which keeps them in running for medals.

There are two more heats tomorrow, before the rest day on Saturday.

Hannah carried the Union flag in the opening ceremony alongside rower Moe Sbihi.

The shared honour followed a directive by the International Olympic Committee in March 2020 where each team could have a flagbearer to represent both genders.

In a social media statement, Mills said it was "an incredible honour".
