The ever-popular Dinas Powys Community Council allotments produced amazing quantities of produce once again this year.

The current restrictions on movement for much of the year meant that the allotments provided a welcome refuge.

There is a lot of talk about well-being these days, which allotments can offer.

Each year the plots are inspected and prizes for the top allotments were presented by the chair of the Community Council John Fanshaw.

Councillor Fanshaw said, "It was a pleasure to be invited to present the prize for Best Allotment to Mr Marsh and to the runner up Mr Bennet.

"The prizes are usually awarded at Dinas Powys Village Show, but unfortunately this had to be cancelled this year because of the Covid-19 crisis.

"Presenting the prizes at the allotments this year was a wonderful opportunity to see, with the prize winners, these beautifully well maintained plots.

"It is fortunate that Dinas Powys Community Council is to be able to provide residents with allotment plots in such a beautiful location in this wonderful community of ours.

"The allotmenteers form a very friendly community and help and support is always available. Currently there is a waiting list to rent plots," he said.
