Creative Wales announced £300,000 to the music industry on World Music Day
Creative Wales has announced that they will put £300,000 into funding the Welsh music industry.
This will focus on helping the music industry with; Welsh-language music, promoting music for media, campaigns for new releases, and promoting live music.
Creative Wales' goal is to help Welsh talents break into the music world and have 'people listen to Wales.' They have an £1.4 billion annual turnover of the Welsh creative industry.
A previous beneficiary group called Samana/ The Road Records which is their own label, turned their home into a production house in 2019.
Their music leads one on a 'journey of cinematic proportion that evokes ancient beliefs, revolution, healing, fallen civilisation and intense deliberation of love, loss, and death.'
One member stated: "Creative Wales' Revenue Music Fund massively helped us to release the EP 'Dharma' in 2023 EP. Since its release, it has gained such global attention that we expanded it into a full length, eponymous album'
Sarah Murphy, Minister of Creative Industries added: "Today is a day to celebrate our thriving music scene. For a small nation we can boast superb venues, festivals, promoters, studios, and record labels.
"Across the globe people listen to Welsh stars – from established acts like the Manic Street Preachers or Funeral for a Friend to up-and-coming grassroots talent like Adwaith and Mace the Great.'
Starting from the 24th of June music business can apply for between 20k to 40k in funding to finance a project. This could include live music promotion, release campaigns for new EPs/ Albums, additional studio time or sessions.
This covers multiple genres, such as, electronic, hip hop, indie, alternative, metal, punk, pop, and rock. However, it does not include genres with existing support, such as classical or jazz.
