Baroque, which is situated on Windsor Road, has submitted an application to the Vale licensing committee asking to extend their opening hours.

The club is currently open from 08:00 to 02:30 Monday - Sunday and New Year's eve until 03:30.

The proposal would see the club open from 08:00 to 03:30 Monday - Sunday.

It also stated that it would seek to close at 04:00 for 10 events per year at 14 days notice to South Wales Police.

This application was read to councillors before they made observations on the matter.

There was resonating disapproval from many of the councillors.

Cllr. Wilson said: ''The opening times are already generous.

''Any further extension is not neighbourly, not-appropriate and highly anti-social.''

Cllr. Fahy stated she agreed with Cllr. Wilson's comments.

Cllr. Birch said: ''Although it closes at 2:30 currently, the people inside have not been sitting around drinking tea.

''They come outside and they are very loud and anti-social when they are getting home.''

The objective of protection of children from harm was also touched on.

''I have concerns about young people drinking as much as they do. I am already concerned about it happening in Cardiff and I wouldn't want to encourage more of it here.'' said Cllr. Murphy.

The council's objections will be submitted to the Licensing Department before a decision is made on 30th October 2019.
