Council pushing for more outdoor weddings in Penarth
The council's registration service is pushing for more outdoor weddings by promoting the array of outdoor spaces available in Penarth and across the county.
It comes after the law changed in England and Wales on April 6 to allow outdoor weddings and civil partnerships at licensed venues.
This was meant to be a temporary rule when it was introduced in July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but has now been made permanent.
Your Vale Ceremony has a brand-new website featuring an online 'Ceremony Portal' which allows you to register, personalise and preview the ceremony online by selecting and amending features such as vows and poems.
The website also allows you to view a list of featured venues, and approved suppliers, and even pay for your registration online.
Rachel Protheroe, registration service manager and superintendent registrar, said: "Weddings and Civil Partnerships are some of the most important and memorable events in a person's life and this is a welcome change which will provide couples with greater flexibility.
"The Vale has some fantastic outdoor spaces and provides unique settings to hold these events, from historic buildings, gardens and even right by the seafront."
New permissions have now been approved to allow for wedding and civil partnership ceremonies at the Barry Island beach huts.
Venue hire for a beach hut wedding is £750 which consists of two huts side-by-side for the duration of the ceremony.
