The Medieval Village in Cosmeston reopened today (Monday 27th July).

Prior to reopening an inspection was undertaken within the village and all the social distancing measures in place have met the requirements needed to reopen.

They said: "Firstly, the village will be open for audio tours only. There will be no self guided or guided tours available and there is also no free entry.

"Audio wands and maps are available from reception and need to be picked up when you are ready to take your tour. Tours will be admitted every 20 minutes, so it is important that when you pick up your wands you are ready to go straight to the village. This will ensure adequate spacing between each social group within the village."

Prices for Audio Tours are as follows:-

£ 5.10 Adults

£ 3.60 Children and Concessions

£15.00 Family (2 adults and 2 children)

£17.00 Family (2 adults and 3 children)

Free enter for children under three.

"On arrival at the main entrance, please make sure you close the gate behind you and make your way to the front of the museum where you can sanitise your hands before entering the village. Once in the village, please do not touch anything and make sure you stay at least 2m from any other tour group that may already be inside.

"To ensure you stay clear of other tour groups, we ask that you follow the tour in the order shown on the map. Also, if there is a group already in a building you are about to enter, please wait until they leave before entering. If the group exits via the door nearest to you, please stay at least 2m away to give them space to leave.

"When you have finished the tour, your audio wands and maps can be placed in the box next to the sanitising station. You may sanitise your hands again after finishing the tour.

"If you wish, after completing your tour, you may take a look inside the museum. Again, please refrain from touching anything.

"The tables in the picnic area are available for use but we do ask that if you do intend to use them, you do so after you have visited the village and museum.

"The disabled toilet will be open if you would like to wash your hands but the toilet itself is unavailable for use. The toilet block next to Reception is available for public use.

"We look forward to seeing you all and thank you in advance for your understanding and patience as we, like yourselves, get to grips with the new normal."
