With music by ABBA legends Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, and lyrics by the incomparable Sir Tim Rice, the iconic musical Chess is being performed by Penarth Operatic & Dramatic Society at the Paget Rooms in May.

There will be four performances from Wednesday, 17 May to Saturday, 20 May, all starting at 7.30pm.

At the height of the Cold War, two chess masters meet in Bangkok to battle for the world championship, but their greatest contest is for the love of one woman. Telling a story of love and political intrigue, and set against the background of the Cold War in the late 70s and early 80s, Chess features an incredible score including classics such as "I Know Him So Well" and "One Night in Bangkok".

Chess originally opened in London's West End in 1986 and played to sell out audiences for over three years. The hit duet "I Know Him So Well" was made famous by Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson and held the number one spot in the British charts for four weeks.

This will be the first time that Chess has been performed in Penarth for more than 20 years and is show not to be missed to book now!
