Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern (DPVC) is working in partnership with Dinas Powys Medical Centre to distribute letters to around 220 residents in the local area who have been identified as vulnerable.
The recipients have been noted as having underlying health problems and are in need of shielding.
They have been advised to stay at home and not be in physical contact with others for 12 weeks at least.
The letter gives information about the help and support that DPVC can offer and how they can contact the Coordinators, Wendy and Judith for assistance with shopping, collecting and delivering prescriptions and telephone calls at regular intervals to ensure that they are safe and if any help is needed.
The cost of producing the letter and postage costs will be covered by Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern from the COVID-19 Hardship Fund that DPVC has allocated for providing help for residents in need and to cover their more than 200 volunteers' expenses.
Councillor John Fanshaw said that the charity was very busy throughout the community. He said: "We are still keen to offer further assistance. We are very experienced in coordinating volunteers and know the importance of proper safeguarding procedure."
If you need any help at this difficult time, do not hesitate to telephone Judith or Wendy on 029 20513700 or email [email protected] or text on 07484 601425.
The office is open every weekday from 8.30 am until 3 pm.
